Finding Your Brand Identity For Authors | A 56 Page Guide!

I recently saw a post on one of the Facebook groups for writers that I’m a part of. It said that many publishers are requesting a marketing plan from authors before they consider taking them on as a client. This means that before the publisher agrees to work with you, they want to see how marketable you are. This includes how many people you have on your email list, how many social media followers you have, what kind of community you’ve built, and what your author branding is like.

This of course isn’t necessary to be published, but it definitely can’t hurt. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve fallen in love with an author only to search for them on social media, or search for a website and find nothing.

With the rising popularity of apps like TikTok, more and more writers and authors are showing their faces and growing their audiences.

One way to start is with branding. Figuring out your brand early on will help you market yourself as a writer. What’s your vibe? Who is your target audience? How can you keep them coming back for more?
